MCC’s bowling teams celebrate first season

The Montcalm Community College men’s and women’s bowling teams celebrated their inaugural seasons with a banquet on March 21.

“Overall, I believe the season was a success,” Coach David Berry said. “My favorite part of coaching at this level is the effort these athletes put in. At every practice, they worked extremely hard to develop the skills that we taught them and the ones they already had.”

Awards were presented in a variety of categories. Ethan Hopkins won High Average with a score of 177 overall. Jake Cutler won High Game with a 217. Zoey Guernsey won three awards: High Average with a 158 overall, High Game with 223, and All Conference for being in the top 4 in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) Conference. Jerald Brownell won two awards: 3 Sport Athlete for competing in golf, cross country and bowling, and Most Cheered for Bowler because his competition chanted for him when he bowled.

“I am excited for the future of this program,” Berry said.
