This program is for students who desire training that satisfies state requirements for the Child Development Associate (CDA), Head Start programs, day care centers, home day care and related areas. Students interested in transferring to a four-year institution are encouraged to consult an MCC counselor or academic advisor.

Why This Degree

Students who earn an associate of applied science degree will be prepared to be child care professionals in a licensed child care center where they are expected to organize and lead activities for young children. This degree also provides the foundation for continued study at the bachelor’s degree level in positions such as child care worker, preschool teacher or public school teaching assistant earning $27,280 to $49,950 per year.
